报告题目:Geological interpretation of airborne electromagnetic surveys: which geophysical models are useful?
报 告 人:Prof. James Macnae
报告时间:May 27th 8:00 a.m. -12:00 a.m.
报告地点:519 Conference Room
报告人简历:
James Macnae is a Professor of RMIT University in Melbourne, Australia. In the general area of controlled-source geophysics, Macnae has made significant contributions to system, processing and interpretational design of ground, borehole and airborne electromagnetic systems. He is the Chief Investigator in numerous Research grants from NSERC (Canada), CRC and ARC Programs (Australia), AMIRA International etc. He is a reviewer for numerous journals, including Geophysics, Geophysical Journal International, Geophysical Prospecting etc.
This half-day course will cover:
1. The basics of geophysical electromagnetics (EM), time and frequency domain
2. Airborne EM systems, compromises and recent advances
3. The physical constraints on conductivity resolution with AEM
4. Detectable geology
5. Geophysical (numerical) models, direct and inverse
6. Case histories: Where and when physical models usefully guide geological interpretation, and why at times they go wrong
7. Where might AEM be in 10 years’ time?
